lyrics
Our city is breathing
Won't you come out?
A future so open
it weighs me down
Will you hang on to me though?
Will you hang on?
My body is screaming
an echo outside
You let go your secrets
But I begged you to try
Will you hang on to me though?
Will you hang on?
What action is dreaming?
I'm trying to say
Your rising is leaving
And I want you to stay
You can hang on to me though.
You can hang on.
Those lights are shinning bright for nobody
They only light it so we'll leave
Misunderstanding is a tyranny
that leaves us running to dark streets
And I am barely touching the ceiling
I am reaching for the sky
to get that intimate feeling between you and I
to show the violence of surprise in these dark streets
to share the violence of surprise in these dark streets
to chase the violence of surprise in these dark streets
to shed the violence of surprise in these dark streets
Those lights are shinning bright for nobody
They only light it so we'll leave
Misunderstanding is a tyranny
that leaves us running to dark streets

There's a lot of emotional heft to this song, but it is delivered with a brand of pacifying calm unique to Madi. So much to love about this track - convincing vocals for the verses and an engaging, original melody composed for the chorus. Most importantly, the stirring vocal embellishments and wall of sound at the outro sold the piece for me. I hope you're finding the closure you need and are looking towards healthier, positive preoccupations in life already Madi! purelyanecdotal
